Post subject:  SP 771

Here in service. Now at Grapevine, Texas for possible restoration to running condition. Displayed for many years at Victoria, Texas and threatened with scrapping at one point due to asbestos.

Nice view of the 771 with her Worthington BL....wonder when she lost that? The 771 will not be restored at Grapevine put has been placed on display in the parking lot behind the current enginehouse. Also a hindrance to operation as she will not make it around the curve into the Stockyards without realigning it greatly. Also most of her brake gear was removed with a torch when being readied for shipment to Grapevine.

Very sad news, as she was in great cosmetic shape when I last saw her in Victoria. At least we can hope the locomotive will be restored to appear operational.
