Does anyone know if there are any interchangeable parts between a Sharon coupler as used on early 20th Century coaches and industrial mill Sharon couplers? --Richard |

Yes, I know, I have participated in prior exchanges. For long term solutions I favor retrofitting to E. However I need a shorter term solution for problem car. Unless I missed it somewhere, many people have danced around the issue but not directly answered. So my question remains: are any of the parts in the so called industrial Sharon interchangeable with the Sharon found on early 20th Century coaches or are they of completely different designs? --Richard |

The Sharron Industrial mill couplers are a 3/4 size design and would be too small for your couplers. These are the couplers being used on the White Pass and Yukon. |

Even 3/4-sized Sharons from the early 1930's and 40's are very different from the later ones, and I believe that neither the bodies nor the knuckles will interchange. Do you have the pattern numbers from off of the coupler body? Call the White Pass shop and ask them who their coupler guru is. They have more 3/4 Sharons than anyone else and they have old ones and newer ones. Someone there might know the exact answer to your question. |
