Said to be the last woodburner to operate in N. America, here at Fisher,LA, probably 1960s. Now at Reader, Arkansas.

The current Reader Railroad operation, seems to be geared toward providing equipment for new movies of the western genre. For instance, recent films where RRR equipment has been shown includes "3:10 to Yuma" and "The Appaloosa". Mogul #2 appears to be the engine being used. LLLL #7, the wood burning Prairie, may be a bit bigger and thus harder to transport to on-site locations. Does anyone know the current status of the 2-6-2? It appears from their website, that the Reader is not running tourisit trains at their location in Arkansas at all. So is number 7 out of service?

There are others better qualified to answer than I; but I can tell you that you are right, tourist trains are no longer being ran on the Reader. It is now an insular operation; it's link to the UP was severed a few years ago. I believe all the track is still in place; it at least appeared to be when I visited it many years ago.

#7 was also being loaned out for movie work; it was used in "O Brother where are thou", and I think at least one of the movie after that. Mogul #2 looked like it was in the midst of an overhaul during my visit, so it could be that Mogul is now operational, and #7 is undergoing routine maintenance.
