"ALCO - DL-640 Locomotive"

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to enjoy a roundtable
discussion with Authors Richard Steinbrenner and Christopher McDermott
and John V. Sylvester III, former President of ALCO Engines and ALCO
Products Service, which later became ALCO Power. This roundtable
discussion is based on their new book A Year of Demonstrations, A Half
Century of Service - ALCO's DL-460 Locomotive. This book looks back on
almost a half century history of a locomotive design that saw the sale
of only twenty-six units, but led to several of ALCO's most successful
designs in their Century Series that can still be seen in use today.
Mr. Steinbrenner is also the author of The American Locomotive
Company: A Centennial Remembrance, which is currently in its second
printing. Mr. Steinbrenner, Mr. McDermott, and Mr. Sylvester will all
be available to sign copies of A Year of Demonstrations which will be
on sale before and after the program. Before the program, visitors are
welcomed to visit "Hauling the World": ALCO and Schenectady an exhibit
curated by Mr. Matthew Zembo and edited by Richard Steinbrenner.

The Schenectady County Historical Society is a private not-for-profit
organization whose mission focuses on preserving, conserving, and
interpreting Schenectady County's history for both visitors to
Schenectady County as well as local residents of Schenectady County.
The Schenectady County Historical Society maintains three main
entities, the Schenectady History Museum, Mabee Farm Historic Site,
and the Grems-Doolittle Research Library, as well as managing the
Efner History Center.
