Word on the street is the PRR 4935 is on her way to DC for the big celebration. Other historic locomotives are also invited. Does anyone have the lineup? There seems to be very little information online about the event.

In addition to this list you can add multiple PVs including Cannon Ball and Hollywood Beach both of which have already made it to D.C.

The equipment from NCTM will be traveling NS tomorrow departing Spencer around 12:30pm arriving WAS at 9:30pm.

Juniata Terminal will be making a move down the NEC tomorrow leaving Philly around 6:30pm.

Unfortunately nothing more has been posted about other equipment moves from Patomac Eagle.

This looks to be an incredible lineup of preserved 50's & 60's era equipment offering a glimpse of what was once a daily sight around D.C. It will likely never be repeated so don't miss this one.

I can verify that these three are sitting coupled to an Amtrak locomotive and are awaiting departure from Spencer.

It's been hectic around here to say the least. The volunteers had to do the mechanical work on these three pieces to get them ready for the trip AND get ready for a visit from that very useful blue steam locomotive. we're getting ready to fire him up for another 'fun" weekend.

Hmmmm. Let's see. GG1 ACL, NS, PRR and B&O engines going to Union Station. You don't suppose there's a recreation of a familiar vintage photo line up planned out in the yard somewhere?

Pix of the G in WAS, looks to be between the station and Ivy City.

Amazingly, no B&O in the line up. Too bad the E from Baltimore couldn't have made it down, let alone the G Washington. Although, B&O has it's Steam Days this weekend, so they will be busy. ... but still - in dream land mode - would have a hot Mason been too out of place there?

Bob, Great minds think alike. As one of the engineers of the Mason, I thought the same thing. But I suppose there would have been some pretty big legal/insurance obstacles. Not to mention rescheduling steam days, but with enough notice......oh well.....it is what it is.

Check the list again. B&O is there.

I think Bob meant that there was nothing from the B&O Museum. There is some B&O representation from Potomac Eagle.

Forget the Mason, how about the B&O E unit? Then there would representatives of three of the five units from the EMD photo. While we're dreaming, there's a FEC E unit in Florida. Now if we can just dig up a SAL E.

Seems to me that Amtraks growing outreach via celebrating railroadings heritage is smart for Amtrak and good for us. They are beginning to realize (FINALLY!!) that we represent a valuable constituancy and are their most important agents in the field.

I am attending Sundays festivities along with a number of other retired members of the Amtrak BOD and you can be sure I will applaud their new found awareness and encourage its continuance AND expansion!!

P.S. Just did a roundtrip on #'s 48&49 Syracuse-Chicago and both trains were chock-a-block. #48 coming out of Chicago on Thurs. nite was so full that even the 4 seats in the extreme front of the coaches (the ones without windows) were full! So the press reports of dramatic ridership increases are certainly true.

Amtrak really put on a classy show at WUS. All of the locomotives were nose in on right at the bumpers which made for an impressive sight as you entered the display area. They had flood lights aimed at the majority of the lokies providing for an almost night photo quality to the scene. I think Amtrak really deserves some praise for 1) being willing to put on such a show and 2) working with so many different groups to pull off the event. Who would have ever thought that you would see a RRMofPA GG1 next to NCTM's Crescent E8? Hopefully this will lead to future events around the country.
