I'm not exactly sure when 475 got her "greasepaint" for historical & PR work, she replaced G1 2-8-0 # 7 in this role. 475 was active in local service out of Roanoke during this time, I have seen photos of her on the Salem shifter in this "garb". The N&W wouldn't let a perfectly functional locomotive sit around and do nothing.
