Tomorrow, the Olympic Torch Relay will travel for a section of its journey behind triple-headed steam in Heber City, Utah. The train will run 4 miles from the Soldier Hollow Olympic Venue to Heber City. The three locomotives will be ex-UP #618, NNRy #93, and ex-GW #75. These three locomotives will take turns providing classic steam transportation to and from the Venue all during the 2002 Winter Games. Talk about "Lighting the Fire Within!" |

Tired as I already am of the Olympics even before they start, heres hoping for a smooth, uneventful, safe and reliable demonstration of steam intensively operated in a very public venue. This is probably the best opportunity to impress the general public with the power of steam since Freedom Train and it could make us many new friends. Dave irondave@bellsouth.net |
