It was parked next to the Science Museum in Hermann Park; when they decided to build the IMAX theater in the 1990s (I think), and the museum needed more parking space; the Carter family took the engine back. It is my understanding it is back on family property in Camden. |

Supposedly "the Carter family took it back" and it's now on family property in Camden. On public display? Well cared for? Offered for sale? I have gone to Camden once or twice to see if I could find it; you would think it would be easy to spot, but I didn't see it. (Looked on W.T. Carter road; seemed like a logical place.) Someone else on the web posted pictures of it on the Carter property in Camden; so my guess is that if you can find it, you may be able to get permission to see it. Most, if not all of the Carter engines are in good shape; many of the display ones are now under cover. #14 appears to be stored in an open field surrounded by pine trees; but in the pictures I saw; it looked about like I remember it the one time I saw it behind the fence in Houston. |
