Does anyone know where or which museum, technical society or university library would have an extensive collection of Santa Fe steam literature. I would like to find technical, blueprints, correspondence and specifications from Santa Fe's steam era. robert@trainorders.com |

The combined standard practice CD that the Engineering Standards Committee, a.k.a. the "Gods of Steam", is producing has the Santa Fe standard practice on it. No word on when it will be out, though. |

No > word on when it will be out, though. I think you are refering to the Santa Fe steam folio, I have that as well as the Santa Fe welding folio. Not quite what I was looking for. I was hoping that there was a repository for Santa Fe drawings etc. somewhere that I could dig through for research. robert@trainorders.com |

In the last 10 years, some fellow out of Iowa or Kansas, I believe, published a scrapbook on Santa Fe steam locomotives based on actual shop records, drawings, etc. I saw the book at Milepost 1, the former R&LHS bookstore near the California State Railroad Museum, in the early 1990's. Never got a copy, unfortunately. Maybe someone will recall the work's name and the author and recommend where to find a copy. Perhaps the title was something like "The Santa Fe Steam (or Shopman's) Scrapbook." Don't forget to get a copy of "Santa Fe's Big Three" by S.Kip Farrington, a very in depth technical analysis of the 4-6-4, 4-8-4 and 2-10-4 engines that ATSF had. b.hume@rogers.com |

Have you asked this question to the Santa Fe Railway Historical Society. In the past the Society has had a library collection in space subbed from San Diego RR Museum in the old express room of the San Diego depot. Check the society's web site http://www.atsfrr.com Also the Kansas State Historical Society got many corporate records of the Santa Fe.
