Just a note to anybody who cares, this loco is not at Green Bay, Wi. It is still in the shop building at the old Kettle Morraine location to the best of my knowledge. It never make it too GB. Hate to see some one drive too GB and not be able too find it there. Anybody got an idea where this shot was taken, or when? Cheers, John. |

This locomotive was for some time on the Amador Central. Did it run for that railroad? Was this just prior to acquisition by Kettle Moraine? Or before Yreka Western? Regardless, it might be nice to have back in Ione, CA. The tracks survive as of now, leased from Sierra Pacific to a local motorcar group. Two enginehouses and a depot survive in Martell, a depot in Ione. O. Anderson http://www.trainweb.org/foothill/amcmain.html |

Here's what I have on this locomotive: Built January 1901 for McCloud River Railroad Retired by MR 29 March 1934, but re-activated at some point later in the 1930's Sold December 1939 to Yreka Western Railroad Sold 1942 to Amador Central Sold 1945 to Nezperce & Idaho Railroad Sold 1967 to a private individual and moved to Mid-Continental for restoration, then moved to North Lake for operation on the Kettle Moraine At last report, the #9 remained in the Kettle Moraine enginehouse awaiting future developments. My guess is that this shot is from North Freedom. The two subsequent owners after the YW (Amador and Nezperce) never bothered to re-stencil the locomotive, and it remained in YW lettering until reaching Wisconsin. I've been told by someone connected with the Kettle Moraine that the owner had some possible operating prospect for this locomotive in Colorado, but that's been a while ago now. Jeff Moore Elko, NV |
