I rode the LGSR today for the first time and was very impressed. I walked away with a few questions though. My first question is about ownership. The train was pulled by two Reading and Northern SD50s which leads me to think that R&N has something to do with it. Are they the actual owners of the LGSR or do they lease the locomotives to power the excursions? Also are there any plans to run steam powered trips in the future as opposed to diesels?

My last question is a bit off topic to the LGSR but I remember a Canadian Pacific ten-wheeler (1098 I think was the number) stored on a spur behind a building near the turntable. Who owns it and where did it go? I think it was stored with a Reading RS3.

Yes Reading & Northern owns all the track and now the coaches of the late George Hart in cluding Ex CP 1098. The deal was sign in to stone back in October.

Yes it's true. Reading & Northern owns 1098 and all the coaches exsept the old wooden coaches there going to the Reading Company Museum.

I know Strasburg has 972 and is in line to be restored, but does R&N plan on restoring the 1098? If so, would it be before or after the hopefully impending restoration of 2102?

Hypothetically do you think the 1098 would be suitable for the LGSR run? The train hit some higher speeds once it got across the river and onto the mainline.

Yes, I feel 1098 could do the job, it's a CP Passenger locomotive.
