Post subject:  IWK&J and JKW&I in 1985

I have been doing some reading about the predecessors of the Allegheny Railroad that was owned by Hammermill Paper back in 1985.

My research say that a consortium made up of National Forge, Struthers Wells and Warren Car Co started the Irvine, Warren, Kane & Johnsonburg back in 1982 I find no record of the IWK&J in the ARR reporting mark data base.

Also in 1982 Sloan Cornell was chosen to operate the new line. I have seen photos of a GE U33B with a keystone herald on the nose with 'Rail System" on top and JKW&I listed below (Also initials for K&K and Gettysburg). I do find a reporting mark (JKWI) in the database.

So, my questions:

1 Did the IWK&J ever actually own any equipment?
2. Who did they employees work for from a RRB point of view
3. What was the JKW&I?
4. What about "Rail System" ?

I have read the 1985 Railpace articles on the IWK&J and ALY, as well as the 1988 Trains article on the ALY.

Thanks
John Stewart
