I can't believe that this went un-purchased. I'm sure some EBT fan, somewhere, or even the Friends group would have snapped up a negative of a pre-excursion train on the concrete viaduct, if they had known about it in time!

Trying not to be too cynical about this, but have you any idea how many thousands of pre-1956 photos of the EBT actually exist? It seems that any railfan who could in the 1950's visited this line and exposed lots of film. It was well known after 1948 or so as the last steam narrow gauge RR east of the Mississippi running "real" trains with "big" NG locos. There were apparently regular carloads from Baltimore and DC making the junket, judging from how many prints and slides I've seen.

Since this photo doesn't really add anything new to the knowledge of history of the EBT, it becomes a matter of collecting rather than preserving history. I suspect that recent economic matters may have put a dent in certain collectors' acquisitiveness.

I try and snag any historical EBT stuff that I can. But a film negative, for $10? No, I'll just save the picture from the website and add it to my ever growing list of JPG's saved.
