Is this Lee Tidewater Cypress 18, the engine recently obtained by IRM? The headlight says No. 2 (which was a 2-6-2), but could have been taken off the other engine.

Not an answer to your question, but has anyone on RYPN bought negatives from this seller?

Yes, one of our #103 when it was in Alabama (40s-50s). Neg looks good to me; it's a "6 x 4.5" format, which was not too common back then. It may well be a copy neg, but if so, it's a very good one.

It was very well packed to avoid damage, and the seller was great to deal with.

In regards to the negatives being offered by ebay seller tonkandrwood, I bought some and was seriously disapointed. They appear to be scanned from prints and then exposed on black and white film somehow. I would stay away.

Just how complete or uncomplete is this loco now at IRM? I have been wanting to ask, but didn't. I have read that she is missing her pilot wheels, and possibly main rods as well. Has anybody at IRM done a complete check too see what all is gone? I imagine
the boiler is stripped of all injectors, dynamo, compressor and ect? Have always liked the Tidewater engines, shame if too much is gone from this one.

One more question for anybody at IRM, is just the front axle and wheels gone or the whole works? I have not located any pics that really tell what is left of the locomotive and am just curious.

Over the years I have made comments about derlict equipment that should be torched or scrapped because no one is ever going too repair and restore the piece. I said that more than once about the Mid Continent "Lake Shore" car back in the early 1970's. Never say never and watch out for forevers. Cheers, John.
