Interesting short operation at Linotype University at Denmark, Iowa. This appears to be an educational/museum facility dedicated to letterpress printing, with the railroad as a sideline. Equipment consists of a onetime Rock Island six-wheel Davenport diesel switcher and a caboose, both operational. Scroll down for a link to photos of the railroad.

As I recall, the Rock Island had a number of these little Davenport diesel switchers. Glad to learn that at least one is still in existance. And from the photos, the restoration looks very well done. I am interested in the wooden cupola caboose though. Doesn't look like it's an ex-CRI&P hack. Maybe Northern Pacific? Anyone know for sure? The photos concentrated on the locomotive with no real good closeups of the caboose.

That little loco and the caboose appear to be from the collection of the late Dave Miner, of Miner Manufacturing, in nearby Donnellson, Iowa. The railroad part of his business was auctioned off due to his deteriorating health, so this seems to be where some of it went.
