From the Wisconsin and Southern Yahoo group:

Quote:
A photo charter, by the steamer's owners.

The engine had to be moved from Hartford to Janesville in preperation
for the Santa Trains in Dec., so they made a "revenue" run
out of it by pulling some freight cars and charging a handful of
folks $$$ to photograph it.

Embellishments/enhancements for the photogs included numerous runbys,
and a few photo props, like old cars, buildings, actors in period
dress, i.e. someone hooping up orders at Whitewater.

I was fortunate to check out the 1003 when it was in Hartford for Santa train which was also during some other national convention where things were discussed. The last time I saw it moving was in 1999 when in ran on the WC from Gladstone to Trout lake in the Upper Peninsula. That was a great trip!

A little more info on the photo special:
Quote:
It was run by Historic Transportation Preservation Inc. formerly
Steamspecials. The webpage is http://www.steamspecials.com. Anyone can go
there and sign up to receive announcements about the upcoming charters
they are running. Bill Raia and John Craft have organized all of the
#1003 charters run in the last couple of years.
