I had a lady call me the other day and ask me if a stock certificate for the Kentucky North and South Railroad in or near Covington KY was still good. The date was 1906 and she is an heir.

I have never heard of it and it is not listed in Ghost Railroad's of KY. I was thinking that it may be a line that was either proposed and not built or obsorbed into either the C&O, L&N or Southern.

Any help is apreciated. She said that she would photo copy the stock certificate and send me a copy. I may then have more information to share.

Possibly a proposal that was never built? i have an ancestral stock certificate in the "Syracuse and Chenango Valley RR" somewhere.

James,

I don't know if this railroad or portions of it were ever built, but some historical material can be found by going to books.google.com and searching for "Kentucky North & South Railroad". Google has digitized the 1907 Annual Report of the Railroad Commisioners of Kentucky, which makes reference to this proposed line.

Alan,

Thanks for your help. I kind of figured that this may have been a proposed railroad which may or may not have ever been built.

Just out of curiousity, have you moved your new toy home yet?
