A fellow on the AnthraciteRR list known to me only as "Drew" posted pictures of the ex Reading diner #1186 which has served as the (apparently closed) Steak & Bagel Train) at the corner of Broad and Callowhill in Philly for some time.

A sister car is at the RR Mus of PA in Stasburg, PA.

#1186 was assigned to Reading's King Coal service.

A number of preservationists are aware of the car, so hopefully she will have a future beyond cheese steaks.

The car sits on a short section of an abandoned RDG branh. Chalk it up in the you never know what you'll find out there category.

While on the topic of Reading passenger cars, there are three similar Reading cars near Scranton that were also part of a restaurant of some kind. The cars are parked side by side and can be seen from the Steamtown excursion trains as you pass through Dunmore near the former Erie shops.

Would hope that one of the rail preservation groups in the area could save one or more of these cars.
