I'm interested in finding out more about historic diesel locomotives, particularly a list of preserved E units. Can anyone suggest a web page or two where I might find what I'm looking for?

Andrew Toppan maintains lists of preserved F units, E units, BL2s and a mess of ALCos.You can find them on his site at the link provided below.
