The attached link will lead you to the December 2008 newsletter for the Main Line Steam organization in New Zealand. I've linked it to my website because the file size is 2.3MB and this board has a 2MB limit. Images from their recent two island tour are shown, including the crossing of an active runway and the meeting of three steam hauled trains in one town. They have three depots, about 20 locomotives including two Beyer Garratt's, the cooperation of the Main Line operator and even allow cab rides! Yes it did. I recall a nice Mallet woodburner on the north island, and some old Rogers engines being hauled out of riverbanks and overhauled. I suppose there are other organizations newsletters covering this stuff? Wish I had time and money for the tour next October. dave |
