Hi all, I know some people are still running 44 tonners. We have exhausted our supply of headlight bulbs. I have been unable to find a source for replacements. Anyone have a source? If not, what are others doing? Adding a resistor and using 32 volt bulbs? As info, the specs in the subject line are off my wiring diagram I have for Hartwell 2. Also as info Caterpillar can supply pistons, rings, liners and some liner O-rings. At least for Hartwell 2's cat engine. I suspect the O-rings they will not supply can be found elsewhere. To change all out runs about $500 per cylinder. Thanks, Dale Dale Grice Operations Manager Board of Directors Member Southeastern Railway Museum Duluth, GA www.srmduluth.org |

A couple of suggestions -- maybe you've already tried. Bernie Watts at Backshop Enterprises in Wheat Ridge, Colroado. I understand that he has had locomotive headlight bulbs available -- but I don't know the voltages and wattage. Aamsco supplies specialty blubs and has been represented at various (our industry) conferences. Website is: http://www.aamsco.com/ |

I have found that www.bulbman.com has been able to find any odd bulb I have needed. If they didn't have a bulb listed they also have a form that you can fill out and they will search outside their catalog. Rich C. |

McHugh Bros. New Hope & Ivyland put headlight resistors from a "74 volt" E.M.D. loco with 32 volt bulbs in No. 400. You can no longer burn both headlights at once, you will trip the auxiliary circuit breaker. |

We have used a place called Specialty Bulbs. I don't have the number in front of me, but they have been helpful in finding some odd ball stuff for us. On the same 44 tonner subject, I am involved with a static display of an early 44 tonner on the Arcade & Attica. We are in need of the glass reflector lens that goes behind the bulb. Anyone have one they might want to donate or sell? Thanks, Pat Connors |

Let us know if you are successful finding/obtaining those particular bulbs and where, as I know of several engines that might need them and it would be nice to know a sure fire place to order. Thanks, Sully |
