Heard on the news: Syracuse China, a company that produced many railroad's dining car china, is closing its plant after 137 years of operation. The parent company, Libby, will continue to market dishware under the Syracuse name, but it will be produced overseas! China form China?

Over the last 5 years I tried to deal with Syracuse China and had no luck - so much so that the local rep for them essentially dropped carrying them because of how hard they made it to do business (he was also having trouble getting them to fill reorders of custom china for local golf country clubs, his main customer for custom china).

I have had much better luck dealing with Buffalo China (now Niagara Ceramics), Hall China, and Homer-Laughlin.
