A friend who is involved with the Red Clay Valley [Wilmington & Western] operation outside of Wilmington has acquired (legally!) some light fixture lenses which had, until now, been in place above the window seats on some MP54 "Red Car" MU's which are about to be cut up there. (These are not the large light fixtures which were over the center aisle, but smaller ones which had been alongside, above the windows). He is not looking to make a profit, and might even give it away, but wants to "find a good home" for this stuff if possible. If anyone collects this kind of thing, or is otherwise interested, please contact me off list and I will put you in touch with him.

I have the contact info but not permission to repost same, so if anyone is interested, PM me and let me know. I have NOT been able to ascertain which cars are being scrapped, but I suspect they are two derelict rustbuckets left over from an aborted conversion project.

There's two old W&W coaches stored at East Side yard in Philadelphia,Pa. they are ex PRR, the yard was also ex PRR. Now own by CSX.
This might be those cars you talking about.

Are the Philly cars still there? I heard they may have been cut up.
There's 2 at Yorklyn, DE that were supposed to be cut up:

Those rust buckets you're thinking of were cut up a couple years ago after they languished in storage on the Hercules siding when Walkersville Southern opted out of purchasing them. These lenses are probably from the two cars that are still in Yorklyn, which were set out for scrapping on site, but the scrapper left when he realized the amount of work involved and the dropping price of scrap.

Status Report requested:

Just how many MP54's are left around the W&W? I recall two converted to coaches, the two at Yorklyn supposedly set out for scrap but aborted, an "open car" conversion that may have been scrapped or is still around, the two scrapped up near Philly......... am I leaving any out? How about the two or three that were around Avondale, Pa. keeping AB&A 0-6-0 58 company before it went to the W&W by donation? And was/is the Brandywine Scenic or West Chester Scenic using any MP54's?
