I propose one additional winter olympic event. Wouldn't it be fun to stage a steam locomotive race, let's say a short 500 foot closed sprint from a standstill? Let each of the three locomotives come up with it's best crews and take the best of two time attempts. I think the media would eat it up!

Flying switches would obviously be the most thrilling, crowd-pleasing event. Given a 1000' passing siding and a train of three cars loaded with tourists moving at 25 mph, your job is to get the cars from behind the engine to in front of it in the shortest time. If anything comes to a stop, you're disqualified. Judges take off points for too much smoke, spinning drivers, etc.

I'll buy a ticket!

Lets see, Jason. How about style, form, accuracy, speed.Would this be an east of the Mississippi vs west of the Mississippi contest? How about north vs south? Would we have a no professionals rule? The olympics is for amateurs only. How would we judge in this day of diesels who's a professional?
