I always wanted to talk to Marilyn. Congrats to Age of Steam for coming up with a unique fundraiser. Hope you make a ton of $$! Jim

From Age of Steam's Web site.

"Dinner in the Diner" has become a very popular event at the railroad museum. On board our fully restored 1937 Dining Car, our steward will seat guests at tables trimmed with fresh linens and silver. They will enjoy authentic railroad dishes served in the grand manner. This year's event, themed "Some Like It Hot" will be the best yet! Recipes from the Seaboard Railway's famed Orange Blossom Special will be featured, followed by a review of the railroads' role in major Hollywood films by Gary Cogill, WFAA Channel 8 film critic.
The 1959 movie classic "Some Like It Hot" includes a memorable scene with Marilyn Monroe traveling by train from Chicago to Miami with her all- girl band. While enjoying cocktails in our club car, guests will have an opportunity for photos and conversation with "Marilyn" (a popular Dallas impersonator). Guests will also receive a copy of "Some Like It Hot" and a special night-time tour our Pullman sleeping car like the one used in the film.

So get on board for some great food, entertainment & an evening with Gary Cogill and "Marilyn."

Proceeds benefit educational programs at the Age of Steam Railroad Museum.

Date - Saturday, March 16, 2002
Cocktails 6:30pm - 7:30pm in the Club Car
Dinner 7:30- 9:00pm in the Dining Car
Presentation begins at 9:15pm
Tickets - $250.00 per couple or $125.00 per individual

I think dining car operations are one of the great stories of classic railroading. The most non railfan, non technical person can get a kick out of how that many great meals come out of that small kitchen!

By the way my favorite diner scene is Jimmy Stewart on the 20th Century's dining car in "North By Northwest"

I love that seen to; its filled with some great inuedos and views of the mainline out the window; when they get off the train in Chicago, there's even a brief glimpse of an E7 with the New York Central "Squiggle" logo that wasn't used very long before the Cigar logo came in. However, I think you mean Cary Grant, not Jimmy Stewart. Stewart was in Hitch's "Rear Window" and "Vertigo."
