They snubbed us! (Officially this IS my opinion!) We are really getting frustrated with NBC and the IOC. They keep asking, we deleiver and then it doesn't happen. But anyway, I am not sure what they are going to do. The locals did some yesterday, and it was on here in SLC, but nationally, I am not sure. I have just finished servicing and putting 93 to bed, I am almost done with 618, and another hostler is on 75, banking for the night. This is FUN! work, but FUN! Those of us here, know it is real work, but we are in heaven. We have them all running like they where designed and it is way more than we could ever have asked for. The Heber Valley Railroad has really rolled out the carpet. Most every day has been a 12 to 15 hour day. There are some good photo's on the Heber Valley web page (www.hebervalleyrr.org) Wish I could tell you more about "when" or if they are going to show the info. Our ridership is really booming and it looks like it will all be worth it in the long run. We are running some capacity trains and throwing in extra's as needed. If you are in the area, come on by, ride the train. We are still running the Deer Creek Dam train some days. Soilder Hollow is becoming the place to be at the Olympics, due to the many venues that are taking place there. This will be one of the best events using steam that has come along in awhile. If you want some good winter steam, you just gotta come and see us! Art artchase@hotmail.com |

NBC is too busy interviewing talking heads and showing more ice skating to be bothered with trains, or other Olympic sports (like Luge and Bobsled and Skeleton--who get minimal coverage--all traditional Olympic sports, unlike snowboarding or "hot dog" skiing or even curling. When they could be showing us what is going on they are busy telling us about some guys sad life story, or the rock bands playing in SLC. I guess this is modern TV marketing. One week to go, maybe the HVRR will get a break! Sure wish I could be there! S' David D. djdewey@cncnet.com |
