Question for the southeastern folks, what is the tankcar that was being used as an idler between the locomotive and tender in video 2?

The tank car is GATX 40649, recently donated by them. It was a Kaolin car, so it likely spent much of its service life in Central Georgia.

What are the titles of the better movies that were made to tell the story of the great locomotive chase?

I'd like to look for it on DISH/DIRECT programing.

The best I have seen is that of Disney's "The great locomotive chase". It was filmed on the Tallulah Falls Railroad not long before it was torn up. Rumor has it that after filming there Disney (the man, not the company) wanted to buy the railroad...but he was talked out of it.
If I am not mistaken, the "William Mason" was one of the locomotives used in the filming. Anyone know what the other locomotives were and if they exist? Especially curious about the one used for the part of the "yonah"...might have the spelling wrong.
Also, should give Buster Keatons "The General" a watch.

From the B&O Museum, Disney employed the William Mason as the "General" and Layfayette as the "Yonah". Virginia & Truckee's Inyo, already a movie veteran, stood in for the "Texas" and is now preserved at the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

If you have access to a copy of the May 1956 TRAINS, you will find a four page story with details of the movie shoot.

Also watch for the Disney TV episode where they show the making of the Disney movie. Lots of behind the scenes stuff on the Tallulah falls railroad.
