Just an update on the Heber Valley:

Shortly after the segment aired, the ticket agents who handle alot of the ticketing for the different events here, were knocked of line due to the amount of request for tickets on the railroad. It was wonderful. The segment had a couple of minor errors (618 is only 95 years old and the track use to belong to D&RG), but was very pleasing to all of who are busting our buns out here.

What you saw (those who could) was what we have been recreating every day minus the thriple header. It is forcast that we are going to be getting a big storm Sunday, so it may spice things up even more. We are making plans to be ready. UP 1011 may even be out strutting her stuff if we have to remove some snow from the tracks. Wait till you see her new looks!!
As of this morning (Sat/0037 Heber) the engines are banked for the night, but tomorrow is going to be a grand running day. Two of the trains are already sold out and when the depot clossed up they only had a few left on the last train. And this trend looks like it will continue all next week. We were getting reservations faster than they could handle.

So far the equipment has been operating extremely well, a big hats off to the Heber Valley and the Nevada Northern.

It would be a great service to all of us if, after all the facts and figures are in, a post mortem of the costs, benefits, challenges and victories of the only recent commuter railroad to be operated by steam in the USA was to be published here. Good hard technical information about intensive use is very hard to come by. This is a great laboratory.

I don't think so. Not for being the only image for the story. It tells us nothing, can't tell which loco, where, or what is going on. Yes, its moody with the guy standing there and the sunrise or sunset and all, but as a singular image in the article it doesn't work for me. Had there been a couple of other primary images and this one then it would have been great. I like artsy-fartsy as much as the next guy but not when it replaces some basics, especially in this venue of journalistic endeavor!

In playing off of Dave's idea to post the results of the Olympic steam operation, it would make a great article for RYPN. What do you think Hume?
