Has anyone heard of a Soo Line Car being restored in Woodland, WI.? Supposedly, a group called "Kellyswitch" has a Soo Car. A contact name and phone number would be appreciated. This group is near New Holland, WI.

Well, It took a while, but here is what I was able to find out on the SooLineHistory Yahoogroup:

"Sorry it took a little time in getting back to you. The coach is a wooden one near falling apart. The box is a standard type 1920's wooden boxcar that looks in good shape. They mostly have C&NW rr stuff there. On a small piece of track near the house in WOODVILLE Wi. I think the story goes that the dad was a C&NW section guy that bought things in the 1960-70's and tried to restore most of the stuff. Most of the interest there is section items. The caboose is full of lanterns of all types. there is a few small buildings but are section related. If you like numbers I can maybe make a trip there and sniff around a bit. -Mark Taylor Soo Line-Engineer"

"I have been to this place in Woodville Wi. Its in a park like setting in the middle of the town. Most of the stuff there is of CNW heritage, lots of signals, and stuff like that. Unfortunately, no one seems to have actual contact info, but now that you have the correct name of the town, perhaps they have a historical society or chamber of commerce.

Looking for WOODVILLE on the map, it is in western Wisconsin, on the Omaha Road line that crosses the St. Corix River into Minnesota at Hudson, WI. The nearest large town would be either Menomonie or New RICHMOND.

While I think this is the place you want, the WOOD--- name kept nagging at me. There is also a WOODMAN in far southwestern Wisconsin that was once on the C&NW narrow gauge... and at nearby Fennimore there is supposed to be a 2-6-0 plantation engine stuffed and mounted to represent the C&NW "Dinky". A few actual surviving pieces from this line, a boxcar and a baggage car, are at Mid-Continent in North Freedom.

Thanks, Dennis. Now I can hopefully find the gent and see what he wanted. He was wanting some brass for the trucks but my research showed nothing for a Kellyswitch.
