M&H 151, an S-6 Alco, built new for the Western Maryland in 1956, emerged from the M&H shop last week in early Western Maryland livery. The paint crew used some old photos of her taken while in service on the Western Maryland for reference. She is expected to be in freight service through the Spring months. Magnetic fireball decals were applied for fun (she never wore them in regular WM service) but they can be easily removed for purists who wish to shoot her. This picture was taken by John Pullman, President of the railroad who gave me permission to share it with friends. You are my friends I hope! Don't want to get yelled at, please!

Not being an expert of diesels, it looks like the trucks are mismatched, like one's on roller bearings and the other's not. Is that normal, or is there a story behind it? |

Front truck has AP-EE rotating end cap roller bearings; rear truck has what looks like SKF roller bearings (which may have been original to the unit on the WM). Most Alco switchers did have plain bearings as built. Very nice job on that locomotive; congrats to all involved. |

Sharp eyes guys! The 151 had friction bearing trucks when working for the Wild Mary and in part of her afterlife as a boomer. The M&H aquired her from an electric power company in the mid 1990's but could not get her moved over the class 1 railroads with friction bearings so the axles were switched out with roller bearing trucks by the M&H so she could be interchanged and brought home. |

Between the 151 and the CRHS 21165, the M&H is becoming quite the magnet for preserved equipment in the Harrisburg area! I remember discussing this back in the fall with some of the other CRHS crew. I'm glad they went with the WM scheme. |
