If that's their "main line," I don't want to be anywhere near their secondary tracks when a train is around!

The wonders of telephoto lens photography--make the BNSF main look like the Toonerville Trolley and trains look like Lionel Lines. I would guess that the above photo was taken with something like a 300-mm lens--the kind of optics wild life photographers use for shy or hostile critters (think rhino with an elephant-size headache) out in the bush.

Wasn't that line removed when Wisconsin Central moved their mainline to the then recently bought the Fox River Valley? I believe a swing bridge, and the shown street trackage which limited track speed to... I can't recall at the time, but it was slow... anyway, they switched their main to a more conveniently faster line.

It's quite interesting that 715 is now being offered to OshKosh. It kind of makes the engine's retirement life go full circle

Yes, the ex SOO street trackage was removed from service shortly after the Zephyr trip. If I remember correctly, the southbound leg of the trip was via the ex FRVR, exx CNW trackage.

That track looked a lot like Katy track in and around Dallas. Katy had a box car standing on a track and the boxcar derailed and fell over. The rail to Waco was so bad that the train to there was limited to 10 mph on the best track and it took 2 days to get from Dallas to Waco - about 100 miles apart.

I heard that the 715 took a tumble one time while on the WC. For 10 grand you can have it!
