Hope the link works! It's good to see the car has gone to a good home.

Frank,

The back haul of Arden line car #2 from PTM was successfully offloaded at the New York Museum of Transportation this afternoon. Pics to come soon. Another great piece of museum cooperation!

Regards,
Chris

How was (or is) the gauge discrepancy addressed? NYMT (which I visited in 2007--good to see their trolley wire in service) is standard gauge and PTM is Pennsylvania Trolley/New Orleans gauge. Was the Magee operation standard or wide?

The Magee Transportation Museum was a standard gauge line. We regauged 4145 using the former Johnstown Traction Co. wheel press we had on the site. I understand from Bruce Wells at PTM that they plan to re-re-gauge those trucks because they are in good condition, even though they have other wide gauge examples on hand. I don't know what trucks went to to Rochester with the ex-PTC snow sweeper/line car. If I'm not mistaken, there is already at least one PTC sweeper in the Rochester collection.

The trucks under #2 stayed with PTM for another project. Only the car body came to the NYMT. This made the most sense for both groups. I am unsure at this time the exact trucks the NYMT plans to use for #2, but they do have some options including the trucks under their cosmetically restored PTC sweeper.

Here are some pictures of the Unloading of Car #2.

Chris

Thanks for the clarifications. Moving something that weighs from 15 to 60 tons is a big job, but if it means a car goes to a good home, it's worth all the effort.

Frank,

Where was the Pittsburgh car before it was sent to the PA Trolley Museum?
