Isn't YouTube wonderful--I also use it to watch musical performances, including one that I attended. One of the comments on the second video asked "how fast does she go"?, and the answer was 15 mph on the track she runs on now, but up to 70 in Santa Fe passenger service. Those drivers do look rather tall.

This sure is a pretty loco. Any steam locomotive restored to operation is always a big accomplishment in today's world.

I'm not very familiar with the group that has resurrected this engine. What are the possibilities of running her with a several passenger cars at speeds over 30 mph in the future? Any hopes of having scheduled excursions? Where can this engine run in the Abilene area?

We have 6 miles of our own trackage that we'll run on over to the neighboring metropolis of Enterprise. We have an additional 12 miles that we can't get to since the diamond across one of our Class 1 neighbors has been removed.

We'll use this first season to prove the loco and ourselves to the public. If we happen to get invited to go somewhere, I'm sure we'll consider a road trip!

Do you have access to mailine trackage?

We do have access to a BNSF siding via a fertilizer plant that we spot occcasionally spot cars for.

What was the reason they removed this diamond? and is there any way they could replace it back?

Could you advise the original owner of the line where you now run and also the railroad that this line crossed at the now missing diamond? Thanks much.

We've spoke a couple times. As much as we would like to pursue this, it all boils down to money. This is something that we can't consider at this time.

It's enough of a miracle and wonder (and a culmination of years of labor) to bring a main-line steam locomotive back from the dead in the 21st Century. Let's wait a while before thinking about road trips. (but it's fun to dream)
