I was cleaning out some files and came across a flyer for a 1975 Rocket Ramble from Chicago to Bureau, IL with AFT-1 on August 2-3 1975. The train departed from LaSalle Street. Blackhawk Chapter NRHS sponsored the trips that included "comfortable chair cars and coaches". Do you think they were referring to the Jesse James Cars? The Sunday trip was co-sponsored by the Chicago Wheelmen Bicycle Club and bicycles were to be carried as far as Ottowa where passengers could pedal to neraby Buffalo Rock State Park. Fares were $25 coach and box lunches were $2.50.

Did this trip run?

NOTE: I was not able to upload a jpg copy of the flyer. "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."

Wesley,
No, the trips did not run. At the time, the Rock was down to a handful of serviceable intercity coaches. On subsequent diesel trips, several intercity coaches were placed strategically in the consist between the P-S built double-door "Peter Witt" suburban cars so there would be restroom facilities spread evenly through the train.
