The city of Cleburne, TX is at it again, unfortunately. In an attempt to further erase what remains of their rich railroad history, the city council wants to allow the demolition of the sad remains of the Trinity & Brazos Valley depot, which a local organization wants to rebuild and use for a museum. This building burned some years ago, and only parts of the walls are standing, but hey, we've all seen much more done with much less.

Here's how we can all help. Email the following address:

amiles@cleburne.net

encouraging the city to let the historical group rebuild the depot. Please copy

shane@santafe3417.org

so that the local group will know how many emails have been sent, and they can use this for ammunition in the future.

If you want more information, please email Shane and he'll give it to you. The city wants to OK the demolition of the remains on this coming Friday (Mar 1) so please don't delay. Forward this request to anyone interested in historic preservation or railroad history.

If you want to write a "letter to the editor" of the local paper in Cleburne, the email is:

rfraser@trcle.com

Thanks to all for your help.

I don't live near Cleburne, but was there last Saturday for a meeting and had to admire the spirit of the preservation and tourist folks there. They've remained positive despite several obstacles and setbacks.
