I believe there are a few folks from the Railroad Museum of New England who post here from time to time. How is the restoration on the ex-New Haven RR FA-1 coming along?

OK, here I am.

Not much to report these days, except that the air brake system was finished a couple of years ago by two of the RMNE people who post here. The completed brake system allowed 0401 to be moved in March 2008 from Saybrook to Waterbury (about 70 miles by Amtrak and Metro-North work trains), along with 7 other pieces.

There are a few things in queue before 0401; the recent addition/extension of yard track at Thomaston Shop means that 0401 will be able to get moved there when work on it resumes.

Like so many other things, it all boils down to resources-- people, money, time. At least it's now on the Naugy, and at least we have a good shop to work in. 0401 hasn't been forgotten.

Some of my colleagues may add to this, I suspect.

Howard P.
