I was stunned tonight to find whilst scrolling the web for Denver Texas and Fort Worth RR info to find that The above famous 4-4-0 was an ex DT&FW engine, and that as such she would have hauled on the opening day and for several years afterwards our Car 57 !! This is astonishing news and what a fabulous possiblilty of a photo opportunity in the future, with the two veterans reunited. Back then our car numbered DT&FW 45 and their engine 9 both ordered by G M Dodge would have mastered all services over the new line.
Does anyone out there have or know where to find newspaper reports on the opening of this line and who was there in 1888 ??
