Hi everyone. Made it into the country no problems. The base I'm on has some railroad tracks and with alittle searching I found some old destroyed rail cars. Enjoy the pics.

There was also a private train made for the leader of Iraq; he never used it, and I believe it is in derelict condition somewhere near the presidental compound.

Shortly after the occupation, a Stainer 8F 2-8-0 steam locomotive was found in derelict condition in Bagdad. It was part of a batch of locomotives built for the WD by North British Locomotive in 1941, and shipped to the Middle East. This one was used by Iraq Railways; and there was strong interest in shipping it back to England for preservation.

Outside the railway workshop in Baghdad there is/was a Sentinel Waggon Works 0-4-0 on display. (For those not familiar with them, Sentinel Waggon Works was famous for their line of steam road waggons; but also built a series of steam shunters for use on railways using the same power units. Some of them got shipped overseas, and some are also preserved in South America, India and I think elsewhere.) At first glance, it will look more like a diesel unit than a steam locomotive; since it had an internally mounted high pressure boiler, internal vertical mounted steam engines, and slab sides.

A Borsig built 0-6-0T-T (tender-tank) engine is/was also stuffed and mounted in front of the station in Bagdad.

When Iraq invaded Kuwait, they stole a complete Crown Metal Products train and tracks from an amusement park in Kuwait; and installed it at the Zawra Park amusement park in Bagdad. I have no idea what kind of shape it is in now; the park in Kuwait bought a replacement steam outline set from Severn Lamb.

Finally, one or maybe two Hudswell Clarke & Co. 2-8-4Ts are said to be on a siding in Mosul. No idea what their present state or condition is.

There are probably more modern and conventional Iraq Railways rolling stock to be found around the country; but these are some of the unusual pieces I have heard about over the years. Thank you for your service; stay safe, and take care.
