I am pleased to announce that the New York State Board Of Regents is expected to grant us a Provisional Charter in September. This means that we will become a"Corporation" under New York State law. The Provisional Charter is good for 5 years. If all goes well, we can apply for a "absolute" Charter which is permanent.
This is a major hurdle in becoming a Non-For-Profit 501c3 Corporation. The next step is to apply for our 501c3 via the Internal Revenue Service. Once we apply. we will be able to accept donations to our group.
