#29 is outside the station building, not looking bad at all, just dry. Newly restored AT&SF caboose outside station along with a very nice looking ex-SP coach. #4960 is in the shops. Two runs in Sept. and October, burning bio-diesel, were confirmed by a woman (librarian type) behind the counter. Man behind the counter had no idea what "a 4960" was! I must say, the GC Ry keeps it's station, store, and property in #1 condition. Other than not running historically appealing equipment (steam or FPA4's), this is an elegant operation. If there was more of a railroad theme to it, something like Strasburg, it might be more enjoyable for railfans, however railfans are not their primary source of interest. It seems they know who they wish to cater to, and exactly how to make that slice the cream of visitors expendable income.

I hope the day comes when a fueling resource, perhaps used motor oil, would bring back regular steam operations. Librarian-type woman told me the issue was water.
Apparently oil and water do mix if you want to ki-bosh steam operations.

But in summary, GC Ry. deserves more praise (imho) than heckling. Everything is well kept, beautiful, and worthy of anyone's attention.

Suggestion might be to open the rail yard across for the station for exhibition of some equipment that is not being used, but of historical interest.

Regards from your "field reporter" in Arizona.

I see in flimsies they are getting some press on this. Maybe this will turn out to be more like "new Coke".
