Owen's mother tongue is not English (correct me if I'm wrong). It would seem that he is trying to figure out the component weight of a GE 45 tonner that has a bad traction motor so he can gauge the proper crane capacity to lift the engine off that truck (lifting on only one end of the locomotive frame. He might also be looking for how to pull the locking pin for the truck to allow removal. Least, that's how I read it. Michael Seitz Missoula MT |

GE 45-ton weights: One truck, complete- 16,000 lbs. (8 tons) Cab and platform/frame, with engines in place- 58,000 lbs. (29 tons) Engine/generator set with base- 4,350 lbs. (4 1/4 tons) To lift the frame, use a 20,000 lb (10-ton minimum capacity) jack at each of the four corner jacking points. Minimum lift to clear trucks for removal- 16 inches. Does this help?
