Post subject:  Denver & Salt Lake Cab 10061 (D&RGW 01392)

I need some information on D&SL 10061. A Ignacio CO businessman and rancher Steve Stewart bought the caboose and had it moved to ML Ranch near Ignacio. 10061 was long thought to have been scrapped, but was sitting for 30 years about 2 miles north of its present location. This caboose is one of three existing steel cabooses of the four that D&SL built in their shops at Utah Junction.

D&SL 10062, D&RGW 01393 Scrapped Salt Lake City
D&SL 10063, D&RGW 01390 Private residence Gore Pass

In 1951 10061/01392 was sold and converted to a weed sprayer car, then in
1962 was back as D&RGW weed spray car X-301. It served in this capacity till
1977 and was sold to a scrapper in La Jara CO. A buyer in Ignacio bought the
caboose and moved it and and removed the remnant spray equipment and piping
removed and repainted the car red over its MOW gray.

I would like photos of the 10061/01392 in regular service if possible. I have
a picture of 01391 off Fallen Flags. Also any photos of 10061 in weed sprayer
service as NALX-105, then as D&RGW X-301.

Mr Stewart has much work to turn it back into its original configuration. Much
of the interior is gone along with couplers, running gear and brake equipment.

Appreciate any information or photos on D&SL 10061, D&RGW 01392
