Our pop culture is everywhere. The Santa Fe warbonnet must be the most reproduced paint scheme in all of model trains and is known around the world. It probably is quite popular with the fans and children alike.

To me it's another example of the model railroad theory of railroad museums... rail collections are seen as large scale replacements of the models the members had (or wished they had) in their train collections as a kid. It also makes it fun for the visitors. Thomas the Tank is another example.

When my wife and I visited England in 1993, one of my "must see and ride" items was Volk's Electric Railway in Brighton. It's only a mile and a fraction long, but it's the oldest operating "juice" line in the world, dating back to 1883. After riding Volk's, I noticed a "kiddie ride" train labeled "Santa Fe Express". The engine was a rather outlandish steam-outline creation, so no Warbonnet, but it was still a tribute to ATSF.

Thomas the Tank? Has our little blue friend traded in his flanged wheels and smokestack for crawler tracks and a 50 caliber?
