Hello to all Sorry to rant on again about this passenger car, but we have got nowhere with a Hicks production or conversion list for 1902. However we do have fragments of top deck window glass and wondered if anyone recognised the pattern, builders did have their own patterns as we know from our Pullman car. The glass is 1/4" thick (ours is 1/8") so its mighty thick stuff. I have tried to re-assemble the pattern as well as i can. Picture attached. All the top deck windows were removed thirty years ago by a mystery individual in Cheyenne for $10 a piece, fittings as well. Question is why? Do they reside in another restored car somewhere? The window frames may hold vital information about the manufacturer if we can find one.

That kind of glass is pretty simple and straight forward to make. First you get a graphic artist to recreate the pattern from your fragments. Next you trace the pattern onto a piece of glass with shelf paper. Then you blast it with a sandblasting rig. It might take a few test pieces to achieve the evenness and crispness of the lines that you will want. Then you remove the shelf paper and "Ta-Da". This method will be a lot easier to do then chasing down unknown manufacturers and part numbers. Try different blasting media and use proper safety precautions. Please. Termite7 |

Ok thanks Maybe i didnt make it clear, we dont want to recreate the glass.....we know how to do that. We need the frames to give us LOT numbers for the car so that we can find out who built the car and when, and who it was new to. Mike |

I forgot to add...or the possible link between this glass pattern and a car builder that used it in other cars. Mike |
