As of last week, the painting of 6167 has begun. Photos and other info can be found here.

I hope the paint sticks. It was sandblasted a month ago and left bare that entire time. I'm sure the rust started to set in. Ideally it should have been primed within hours of sandblasting completion.

We'll see (I hope so). Now I know that the cleanup of the engine took weeks, and I've been told that the high humidity that followed the sand blasting was not ideal for the application of paint.

Hopefully the fact that she is under that tent will have kept the rust away.

It gets quite hot and humid here in Southern Ontario during the summer. Although it has been unusually cool and dry this year, we had a stretch two or three weeks ago of humidity. It will rust under humid conditions.

Primer coat makes her look really good! Almost good enough to.... Aw, never mind.

Please entreat the city of build a shelter for the locomotive so your hard work and expenses won't have gone to waste.

Like any lame soap opera, it never ends, see for the past few years, Guelph has been wanting to redevelop the bus station that is next to the locomotive, and apparently the plans include building a road right where the locomotive rests. So it may one day have to be moved, however we have tried passing on the suggestion that the new station incorporates the locomotive, preferably inside the station. Only time will tell...
