The Railroad Museum at Ardenwood (operated by the Society for the Preservation of Carter Railroad Resources) will be hosting its annual Railfair over Labor Day weekend. This year we will have two visiting steam engines, Deanna, a 1891 Baldwin 0-4-2t, and Ann Marie, a 1891 Porter 0-4-0t along model railroad layouts, music, a hobo scavenger hunt for kids, and lots of other activities. Ardenwood Historic Farm, a preserved working 19th century grain ranch includes a 1857 historic house, barns, farm animals, a working blacksmith shop, gardens, and much more. You friendly moderator will be there Sunday and Monday working on our 1893 Northwestern Pacific caboose.… and would welcome visitors (please leave pitchforks and torches at the front gate.) Other rolling stock displays include three 1880 Carter boxcars, our 1882 SP combine, and our 1923 Plymouth DL-2. Of course you can make a long day (or a weekend) of it and visiting the Niles Canyon Railway, located nearby. Information at http://spcrr.org/PDFs/RailfairFlyer2009-v2.pdf |
