We at the Steam Railroading Institute offer many thanks to those who have made some wonderful comments about our "quick" return after our tube issue at Trainfestival. As we finally catch our breath, we wish to offer some thanks, and give some comments. Lead by our CMO Greg Udolph, we took all of about four days to catch our breath, and immediately went back to work on what it would take to get the locomotive back up as soon as we could. On some levels, we apologize for not answering the many questions about whether or how quickly we would return; in another very real sense, we just didn't have time if we had any hope of making our VERY busy schedule, and most particularly, the Lerro Production Photo Charter and our trips this Saturday for the Hamburg Railroad Festival. In addition, as I hope most now understand, we didn't wish to enter the fray of speculation and comments, good or bad, as we felt that if the locomotive was up and running, it should speak for itself. And WE feel it did. That said, we could not have done this without the extreme generosity of Steven Sandberg and the friends of the Milwaukee Road #261 group, who graciously donated the tubes to us to help complete the repairs needed to get #1225 running as quickly as we did. In a very real sense, #1225 owes the #261 for her ability to run right now. Yes, our staff, volunteers, and several others (most of which would kill me to name them) put in countless hours to get this remainder work done; but the help we received and the speed with which we were able to do it was in large part to Mr. Sandberg's offer of help.
