It appears that the Chinese at the famous JiTong Rwy have decided that a display locomotive is simply not good enough. They have set up a 10 QJ display.

Tom,

Yes, it is a truly heartwarming sight !!! I suspect that the railway might be using this "display" to dodge some type of tax payment for their spare QJs. It sort of looks like they could hook up some snap track panels and drag those babies back over to the shop pretty easy.

Their "real" display consists of decorated passenger QJ 6911 (run for only a month or so after recieving class repairs at Sujiatun) coupled to a steam crane, set up on a pedestal with a meditation garden. There are also two more QJs in the shop, operable, lettered for JiTong Tielu, which are used several times a year for their steam festivals.

Looks like Daban is still worth a visit, especially with all the other steam action happening every day in China.

Y'all Work Safe,
Sammy
