Post subject:  New exhibit building going up in Snoqualmie

The Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie has begun building the new Train Shed. It will incorporate 25,00 square feet and about 1,100 track feet of artifacts (after allowing for sidewalk setbacks). Completion is scheduled for 2010 but the building will be substantially complete in December. Progress photos are being posted on a new page on Wasteam: http://wasteam.railfan.net/?level=album&id=36&plog_page=1. There are several blog posts too: http://trainmuseum.blogspot.com/search/label/Train%20Shed

Let's see how many institutions we can convince to copy the idea and follow through: cars and locomotives will last for a really long time inside a building. Life expectancy drops considerably when storage and/or exhibit is outside.

Incidentally, this project is 25% funded by an enhancements grant.
