Quote:
The museum has the chance to acquire a mid-1950s presidential passenger car used by Dwight D. Eisenhower, a 1944 steam engine that would be the only one of its kind in the world in operation, a 1950 diesel engine and 16 Pullman Standard passenger cars from the 1970s.

Where is the present location of the collection described here? The article refers to Pennsylvania, but gives no exact details. The organizers need to raise $100,000 to acquire the collection and relocate it to Ohio.

Am I correct in assuming that they are trying to get the B&LE 2-10-4? Then run it on a 2 mile loop? I sure hope they buy a wheel lathe.
13 million would sure go along way with other groups in the area that are already established.

The Western Reserve Model Railroad Museum is in Mentor, Ohio.

I am most certain that they are talking to Glen Campbell regarding the 643, the S2 switcher and the 13 cars, former commuter cars, that sit in a CSX yard in Northeast Ohio. The facility they refer to as the potential home is a former Caterpiller plant in Mentor on Tyler Blvd with a single spur coming in off the ex NYC mainline. You can see the facility from US Rt.2 just west of the Rt 306 exit. You can't see the spur as the CSX mainline is on the far side of the building. I can't imagine CSX approving moving the equipment there. I have absolutely NO idea where they think they will build a 2-mile loop, let alone where they will come up with cubic dollars needed. They would now be the third organization hoping and wishing to give 643 a better home and a better future. I wish them all the best but I'm a little doubtful of the chance for this to actually take place.

Let me clarify: the 643 and S2 switcher are in Pittsburgh while the 13 commuter cars sit in NE Ohio.
